KOA Glass Ichikawa Plant has been registered as a certified Chiba SDGs Partner.

In June 2022, KOA Glass Ichikawa Plant was certified as a Chiba SDGs Partner (Registration No. 1095) for its efforts in SDG activities, including the introduction of carbon neutral LNG, internal educational activities, harassment education for all employees including company executives, and the manufacture, processing, and sale of products of reuse glass cullet.
KOA Glass Ichikawa Plant will continue to contribute to the conservation of the global environment and the protection of natural resources through all activities that support a society capable of sustainable development with less burden on the environment.

Respect for Human Rights

• ◎As a member of global society, we believe that all of our business must be based on the respect for human rights.
• ◎We have established an internal code of conduct to ensure that all officers and employees do not engage in or suffer unfair discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, language, property, origin, religion, ethnicity, political opinion, disability, health status, sexual orientation, etc.

Support and Respect for International Norms

KOA Glass Group sets the United Nations (UN) "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights" as our goal for promoting the respect for human rights. We will support and respect the following norms in all of our operations.
• ・UN "International Bill of Human Rights"and "Universal Declaration of Human Rights", "International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights", "International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights."
• ・International Labour Organization (ILO) "the basic rights for workers set out in the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work", Core labour Standards, "Convention on Human Rights of Workers, including Wages and Working Hours."
• ・KOA Glass Co., Ltd. has signed on to the United Nations Global Compact ("UNGC") and was registered as a participant in April 2022.We support the UNGC's ten principles in the four issue areas (human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption).

KOA Glass Group Human Rights Policy

"KOA Glass Group Human Rights Policy" is a guideline created to promote respect for human rights throughout our group of companies. It expresses support and respect for the basic concept of human rights and international norms such as UN "International Bill of Human Rights" and "Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights."

KOA Glass Group Code of Ethical Conduct

"KOA Glass Group Code of Ethical Conduct" stipulates that all directors and employees of the Group must comply with international norms, local laws and regulations, and internal policies. The Code of Conduct also goes beyond rules and stipulates that we act with high moral value and good conscience.

KOA Glass Group Procurement Policy

KOA Glass Group believes in order to develop sustainably as a company, we must take into consideration not only economic value but also social value with our procurement practices. In the supply chain, we will value the relationship of trust with our suppliers, procure sustainable raw materials, and work to respect human rights and protect the environment. We has established this basic procurement policy as "KOA Glass Group Procurement Policy". The contents of this policy include ensuring quality and safety, fair purchasing transactions, compliance with laws and regulations, environmental protection, resource conservation, safety, and consideration of human rights.

KOA Glass Group Supplier Code of Conduct

"KOA Glass Group Supplier Code of Conduct" is a standard that we require the companies we do business with to cooperate and comply with. The contents include compliance with laws and regulations, respect for human rights, and environmental protection. In cooperation with our suppliers, we will work toward a more sustainable society by spreading the Code of Conduct throughout our supply chain and beyond.

Recycling efforts

Recycling efforts

The composition of the glass bottle is similar to that of the Earth.
Since we use natural materials, it is easy to recycle and excellent for the environment, and its recycling is self-contained (Bottle to bottle). The glass container is the most eco-friendly, with no emission of dioxins, environmental hormones, etc.
By using cullets (crushed glasses for recycling) as a raw material for glass bottles, we contribute to energy conservation in the process of melting raw materials as well as saving natural resources.

What are cullets?

The recycled bottles are crushed and made into the raw material for glass bottles called a "cullet." The more you use cullets, the less you use natural resources such as silica, limestone, and soda ash (resource-saving), the less time it takes to melt the raw material, thus conserving heat energy (energy saving). Besides, CO2 generated by chemical decomposition of limestone and soda ash can be reduced (reduction of global warming gas).

Major environmental conservation activities

1. １． Activities to reduce environmental impact

   • （１）The compressor has been updated to environmentally friendly type (low noise, low vibration, low power consumption)
   • （２）Fuel conversion (to reduce CO2 emission in melting furnaces) is realized.
   • （３）The print drying furnace has been upgraded to an eco-friendly model(electric resistance furnace)
   • （４）The cooling furnace was upgraded to eco-friendly model (energy conservation)
   • （５） Renew the forklifts from engine type (gasoline and diesel) to battery type(electric motor).
   • （６） The use of eco-friendly paints started in the painting process.

2. ２．Waste problem

   • （１）Establish a sorting facility for general waste, industrial waste, and recycled products at major business sites.
   • （２）Collect the packaging materials of products used for the delivery with the help of customers, and realized the "Reuse" of packaging materials.

3. ３．Useful activities

   • （１） [ Beverage vending machine] was upgraded to an eco-friendly model.
     • ・LED lighting, heat pump function and peak shift operation.
     • ・A portion of the sales amount is donated to the afforestation promotion foundation.

   On January 18, 2023, we received a "Bronze Medal” in a sustainability assessment conducted by EcoVadis (headquartered in France).
